……Open to the public: Yoga for Beginners, Wed 8pm, Shelagh Sutton’s yoga journey started 8 years ago when she joined a yoga class for beginners. She practiced intermittently over the coming years but became more serious about yoga when she joined a pre-natal yoga class in the Cork Movement Centre two years ago and a regular Ashtanga class soon afterwards. These classes helped her to appreciate the immense benefits of yoga – increasing strength and flexibility, relieving stress and contributing to overall wellbeing. Her passion for yoga grew and last year she joined the YTTC teacher training course. Shelagh’s classes are aimed at beginners and those who would like to brush up on their yoga skills. The classes focus on building strength, flexibility and fitness, increasing body awareness and relieving the stresses and tensions of everyday life. Community Vinyasa Yoga class, Thurs 8pm
In this class Sarah will draw upon a variety of yoga traditions with an emphasis upon the Astanga and Shadows schools. The asanas (postures) will be taught and practice individually before coming together to create vinyasa (a series of flowing movements). In order to create Sthira (strength) and sukham (flexibility/ ease) these asanas will be combined with pranayama (breathing techniques) and bandhas (inner locks). Further, pranayama (breathing) and relaxation techniques will be taught at the beginning and end of the class to facilitate calm and focus. This class will be differentiated, making it suitable for all levels from beginners to advanced. Discounts for students, employed and low wages. Please contact Sarah at 0879125122
